    Denmaur News - November 2018

    Awards, new swatch and calendar.

    Claudia Flamson

Denmaur apprentice, Claudia Flamson, works as an administrative assistant at our busy Bardon warehouse, and is nearing the end of her NVQ level 3 Business Administration course.

Born in Leicester, Claudia has lived in Swadlincote (Derbyshire) for most of her life, spending some time at University of Derby before returning to Leicester to take up her current role.

"The thing I enjoy doing most at Denmaur is helping our Transport Manager, Chris Green, with route planning. It's something I never thought I would enjoy, but I find it really interesting as there's a new challenge to overcome from it every day."

Outside of work, Claudia is an avid reader, claiming it to be an escape from reality that television and video games just can't match.

"One of my favourite quotes is by John Green from the book The Fault In Our Stars: 'Some infinities are bigger than other infinities' as I think it shows life is short, but is something to be treasured."

Indeed, Claudia claims that her specialised subject on Mastermind would probably be based on books, but train time-tables could be a close second choice as most weekends are spent commuting to and from Brighton, where long-term boyfriend, Daniel, is based.

Claudia cites her mum as her greatest influence, "she's a fantastic role model and I'm very fortunate to have been brought up by someone so kind hearted and strong."

We all wish Claudia the very best in the successful completion of her course.

    Awards Season

November is always a busy time for sponsoring and attending industry Awards. The Awards programmes are important for celebrating what is good and what is innovative in the world of paper and print, and they also serve a purpose for meeting with customers and colleagues, old and new.

PPA's IPN Awards - Denmaur sponsored the Business Publication of the Year category.

British Book Design & Production Awards - Denmaur sponsored the Exhibition Catalogue category.

    2019 Desk Calendar

This year's desk calendar celebrates art photography in and around the world of Denmaur, taken by the staff during 2018.

It's our first calendar in the new Denmaur Paper Media branding (printed on Performa Brilliance 245g/m²), and from the contents, it's obvious we have some very talented snappers.

We're not sure, as yet, if we'll repeat the exercise for the 2020 calendar, but the message to staff is please keep the high quality photographs coming in.In the meantime, we still have limited numbers 2019 Art (at our) Work calendars left.

Please contact your local branch to reserve one.
