    A Salute to Our Clients

From Brexit and Covid to supply chain upheaval and strike disruption, our clients have weathered many a storm in recent years. We take time out to salute them.

When our company was founded, 40 years ago in Kent, nobody could have predicted the massive ups and downs the publishing, print and paper sectors would face.

It was a world where almost everyone read a paper newspaper or magazine, and no one gave a thought to where product packaging came from or what happened to it after it was thrown away.

    The digital dawn

The internet and the digital transformation revolutionised consumer habits, arguably the biggest change since the invention of the printing press.

At the same time, a growing awareness about damage to the environment prompted businesses like us to put sustainability at their core long before it was fashionable to do so.

The publishing, print and paper industries weathered all these changes and more. Companies adapted, becoming leaner and smarter, honing their focus on customer service.

It goes without saying that a business sector as diverse as ours never stands still, but even we have to take a moment to pause and reflect on the past few years.

    Unprecedented turbulence

In 40 years of trading, it is possibly the most tumultuous period our industries have ever witnessed.

It began with the 2016 Brexit referendum and subsequent withdrawal of the UK from the European Union in 2020, a move that caused no small amount of disruption for the publishing, print and paper industries.

While everyone was still adjusting to that new landscape, along came Covid and its 'new normal'.

We all took social distancing and remote working in our stride, but the upheaval to global supply chains was more of a body blow to businesses as demand for printed communications soared.

    From pandemic to war

Suddenly there were materials shortages and jaw-dropping price hikes, mill closures and reduced allocations. Then, just as the threat from Covid receded and markets began to get back to normal, Russia invaded Ukraine.

Rocketing energy prices and interest rates prompted a cost of living crisis that has led to strikes in multiple UK sectors, testing everyone's mettle once more.

    Standing tall

Yet here we are. Surviving. Thriving.

Our clients and colleagues in the publishing, print and paper industries may be a little punch drunk from all the hits we've taken as a sector - in a boxing match the referee would have called a halt several rounds ago.

But we never threw in the towel and neither did you.

As we mark our 40th anniversary year, we're taking this opportunity to tip our hat to all our clients who have weathered these recent storms and still come out fighting.

We salute you, and we're going to be right here with you, every step of the way, every day.
