    Rough Touch

  • Rough Touch is an acrylic-coated, sand-structured, biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) lamination film designed to create a distinctive textured, tactile finish.

Its unique sand-effect surface provides a premium, contemporary appearance while offering scuff resistance and good tear resistance. The reverse side is coated with an EVA hot-melt adhesive for lamination to a variety of paper and board substrates.

Available in Thermal, Wet and Digital formats, ROUGH TOUCH is suited to creative print and finishing applications where texture and tactile impact are important.

Its structured surface can affect subsequent processing, so pre-production testing is recommended.

    Print Capabilities

Rough Touch creates a distinctive textured surface that adds depth and tactile interest to printed materials. It can be used with overcoating in screen printing and digital printing, although the structured surface requires careful consideration during application. A minimum coating weight of 12g/m² is required to adequately cover the uneven surface when overcoating. Printability is possible, but pre-testing is recommended to establish optimum conditions.

    Finishing Capabilities

Available in Thermal, Wet and Digital formats, Rough Touch provides flexibility across different lamination processes. Its textured surface can be suitable for gluing and hot foil stamping, but the sand structure may make these processes more challenging. Pre-production testing is recommended to determine suitable conditions for the specific application. The EVA hot-melt coating requires curing time following lamination, with the appropriate curing period dependent on the base material.

    Typical Applications

Ideal for premium and creative print applications where a distinctive tactile effect can add value and visual differentiation. Typical end-uses include luxury packaging, premium brochures, book covers, presentation materials, corporate literature, promotional materials, retail communications and specialist printed products. The sand-effect finish is particularly effective for applications seeking a contemporary, textured appearance that stands out from conventional gloss, silk or matt laminates.
