    Denmaur News - July 2018

New stock, two awards shows and recycling for charity.

    The local circular economy

As a result of an intensive spring clean in the samples department this year, we have amassed some four and a half tonnes of redundant paper in the form of old samples, dummy sheets and residual marketing collateral.

Marketing and Sustainability Director, Danny Doogan contacted packaging producer DS Smith, who operate a large recycling plant in Sittingbourne, with a view to recycling this redundant paper back into the industry - after all, paper fibre can be re-used between 6 and 8 times!

Josh Woodhouse, Regional Business Development Manager of DS Smith, was more than happy to oblige and offered a free skip and collection service to help close the loop for Sittingbourne's two paper giants.

It took two days for Assistant Samples Manager, Ben Lee and our graduate intern Tom Scrivener to fill DS Smith's bright orange skip. The newly reclaimed space on the ground floor at Denmaur is destined to be used as a Pilates and Yoga area twice a week for our employees seeking peace, harmony and increased flexibility. Meanwhile, the proceeds from our DS Smith recycling rebate will be donated to Children in Need at the behest of Samples Manager Dennis Luckhurst.

Exciting new offset PrePrint-S added to the stock portfolio

Produced at their Saillat Mill in France, PrePrint-S is a versatile high white uncoated paper that comes with exceptional environmental credentials - including the EU Eco Label.

Stocked in SRA2 and SRA1, PrePrint-S is developed to perform across a number of traditional and modern printing technologies.

New swatches of the PrePrint-S grade are now available to demonstrate the impressive results achieved through the litho and digital print processes.

Revive Paper sponsors The 2018 Heist Awards

July was a busy month for Andrew Bruguier on the Awards front, as he also attended the Heist Awards in Manchester along with Denmaur's Jean Stanley and Liz Perry.

Heist celebrates excellence and innovation in education marketing, for which paper and print still plays an important role. University prospectuses are still considered to be the showcase marketing collateral of many institutions providing higher and further education courses.

Our Revive brand has sponsored an award category at Heist for the last three years, this year sponsoring the Best Postgraduate Prospectus Award which was won by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Denmaur sponsor The Shine Awards 2018

The Shine School Media Awards is a national event recognising the design and media talents of UK secondary schools who produce a newspaper, magazine, podcast or website.

This year we sponsored the Best Community and Environmental Initiative Award, which was won by Bodmin College for their magazine, SKIVE, and presented by our Marketing and Sustainability Manager, Andrew Bruguier.

Amongst its aims is to encourage and help students pursue a career within the media and graphic arts industries.

Although in its eighth year, Denmaur has been involved with the Shine Awards for the last four, with other sponsors this year including Google, TES, The Telegraph, The Daily Mail, Hearst, The Week, Immediate Media, BPIF, Getty Images, Heidelberg and PrintWeek.

Incidentally, we supply the paper for the event brochure for the Awards, a combination of UPM Fine, UPM Finesse Gloss and UPM Finesse Silk, all of which supplied Carbon Balanced.
